The
Hunting...
Elk
hunts are scheduled during the "heat of the rut."
Thousands of elk reside on the ranch during the fall of the year, and our
hunters can expect to encounter numerous bugling bulls. Hunters who have
previously visited ranch have
enjoyed a success rate of more than 95% over the past several years. You have a
very good chance at taking a 270-300 class Bull Elk.
Bigger Bulls are taken. Most
guys will see a good 6x6 or 5x6 scoring 270 and harvest it.
Two bull Elk scored over 330 B&C, 15 more 300 B&C, six Mule deer
over 180 B&C, and 6 Antelope over 75 B&C.
There is no better hunt in North America for the $$$$!
While
the success rate is impressive, their primary goal is to insure that our clients
have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable outdoor experience in this beautiful,
remote region of the Rocky Mountains. The
ranch takes very few Mule Deer hunters and normally they harvest a couple of
Deer over the 30 inch mark each year. 12
Mule deer were harvested scoring 170 to 206 B&C.
The
best combo hunt will be mid to late Oct. We
do not push combo hunts we believe your better to spend all your time working to
harvest the best Elk or the best Mule Deer, we believe you would be better doing
two different hunts!
Remember
your hunting and success is high but not guaranteed you will see Elk! This I
will say you will see Elk!
Led by Allen "Big Al" Morris, World Champion Elk Caller, Three Forks Ranch has some of the best guides in the West. There is nothing more thrilling than to have your guide call up a trophy bull to less than 100 yards in the "heat of the rut." There was six of us and we all harvested very nice bulls in four days. The biggest a 6x7 and the smallest a big 5x5 scoring very well! We all saw hundreds of Elk and the bulls and cows were talking and my guide called a bull right back after running off.
Hunts To Remember has filmed 3 hunts on this ranch you can order these by going to www.HuntsToRemember.com
The
ranch tries to maintain the trophy quality of it’s mule deer herd, a very
limited number of trophy licenses will be available to guests. All hunts will be
sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. The
demand for these Elk & Mule Deer hunts are high so you must book early!
These hunts to sell out each year and I expect there will soon be a
waiting list!

This trophy Elk hunt has been a very popular hunt. It takes place in the forested areas of Alberta, during the rut. The hunts can be either archery or rifle. The archery hunt can be centered in the peak of the rut, while the rifle hunt is at the end of the rut.
The hunt involves trying to call the bulls in. Most of the traveling is done on horseback or ATV's, but may also involve a lot of hiking to get to the best spots.
The hunt occurs in mid to late September, when the weather is pretty good. Temperatures are usually around 65 degrees and frost in the mornings is not unusual. This is a flat land hunt and as easy as an Elk hunt gets!
In 1994 a bow hunter hunted five and one-half days. Six bulls called in within 35 yards, one shot at 20 yards, another at four yards, most years this hunt runs 100% on bulls. Todd takes two hunters at a time. One bull will probably score 280 to 310, the other at least scoring in the 250 to 260 Boone & Crockett points. 1995 saw two hunters with 50% kill. One hunter had to leave early and was in poor physical shape. Hunters fly into Edmonton or Grande Prairie, and are taken to the tent camps.

The outfitter maintains a clean and comfortable wilderness camp. All of his equipment and horses are in excellent shape. He supplies good mountain-wise horses that can accommodate even the most novice riders. He will furnish saddlebags and rifle scabbards when needed.
Hearty meals are served with a great variety and plenty to eat. If there are any special health or diet restrictions, please let us know in advance so the necessary arrangements can be made. These hunts run from September through October. If you draw an Elk, Deer, Sheep or Moose tag, this outfitter can and will provide quality .
7 to 10 Day Wilderness Trophy Hunts. These hunts begin from our base camp at Turpin Meadow Trailhead, 45 miles northeast of Jackson Hole. The camp is located 16 miles into the wilderness and is over halfway to the Yellowstone National Park boundary. It is known for its excellent Elk, Deer, Moose and Bear hunting.
The camp is located far enough in the wilderness area that we do not experience the pressure many other camps have. The wilderness area is approximately a 4 1/2 to 5 hour horseback ride from the base camp. The hunter does lose 2 days of his hunt riding in and out of camp.
The outfitters forest service permit number is #1. It is one of the first hunting camps licensed in the state, and was originally a Grizzly Bear hunting camp.
Late Season Migration Hunts. The outfitter prides himself on knowing all of the migration patterns extending from Yellowstone to Jackson Hole. He has hunted guided these areas personally for years. He feels his knowledge of these areas is second to no other outfitters in the Jackson Hole area.
These hunts are run from the town of Jackson. You will need to make reservations at a motel for the length of your stay. He will be happy to help you with any arrangements. There is no need for a vehicle as he can provide all transportation during the hunt. We will be driving 10 to 30 miles depending on the special permit you have; 75, 76, 76B, 79, 70 or 71. These can be of the highest quality trophy hunts.
He urges hunters to stay in close contact with him on these bookings. The weather definitely influences these migration hunts. Over the years he has been successful in timing these hunts which run from mid-October through November.
Archery Hunts. The outfitter welcomes archery hunters of all species. He hunts with a bow and feels highly qualified in this field. The archery season runs 20 days before the regular rifle season opens. This is a bonus for us as the animals have not yet been hunted. If you are interested in this hunt, please call before making your decision.
