Bill and his 164 B&C Whitetail.
I feel this is your best chance to harvest a truly big Whitetail!
Whitetail deer are one of the most hunted animals in the world due to the sheer numbers and places they exist. We have the rights to a private 11,000 acre ranch managed exclusively for hunting whitetail.
We hunt this ranch in December and January. Due to the limited number of hunters we book, we are able to harvest bucks in the 130-180 class. Our average score over the last six years is 148. It is not uncommon to see high, wide spreads with drop tines.
Come prepared to experience first class trophy hunting in a third world country.... Old Mexico. Five days hunting includes meals.
We will meet you in Laredo, Texas and escort you on a hunt where we feel we'll harvest whitetails scoring 140 B&C and up!
We feel that the person who holds out and passes on smaller bucks will get bucks scoring 150 and up! A deer wounded is considered a deer harvested. Every effort to find the animal will be made, even to the point of using tracking dogs.
If a deer is not recovered, it is up to the landowner to decide whether to continue the hunt or not. It is important that you know how to tell a good trophy in advance of the hunt.
A good buck has horns out past his ears with long tines and heavy mass. We will do everything we can to coach you. There are two styles of hunting, one is riding in a vehicle which is called high racking. There is a stand in the vehicle which allows you to look out over the brush. This is a good way for you to help field judge a trophy. There are five hunters per hunt. We rotate between high racking and hunting from tower stands (sondara's), placed along the roadway. Corn will be fed to draw deer out of the brush.
Typical day starts before daylight using a stand or high rack. Around 10:00 or 10:30 you go back to the bunkhouse for brunch. You will start hunting again at approximately 3:00 p.m. until dark. If you want to hunt all day, that is possible, but deer don't move well mid-day.
Most hunters have filled out in three days. Hunters who pass on smaller bucks, shoot higher scoring bucks. Other animals are available only after you harvest your Whitetail, such as coyote, which are not importable to the U.S. The price for javelina is $25 for the tag and a $250 trophy fee for 2 javelina. On warmer days you will see lots of javelina, cool days you don't see any.
Bow hunters are welcome, but stands are not suitable for the bow hunter. Bow hunts are spot and stalk. These deer aren't as wary of humans as northern Whitetail. They seldom see humans.
In 2000 Bill harvested a Whitetail that placed third non-typical in Mexico. It scored 164 6/8". He missed a buck estimated at typical over 170 B & C points. The big advantage of this hunt is you will see 4-8 different bucks each morning and evening hunt. Several deer taken off this property and adjoining property scored in the 180's.
It can frost at night and make better hunting, but it can get quite warm. Canadian Whitetail hunts endure temperatures from 10 to-20. This hunt may be 30 in the morning, but by mid-day it is in the 50's.
Meals are included. In my opinion this is the best Whitetail hunt in North America. Accommodations are nothing more than a cowboy style ranch house. You will need a sleeping bag and a pillow.
It is recommended that we receive the information for licenses 65 days in advance of the hunt. Absolute minimum of 45 days in advance of the hunt.
You need to send 6 passport size photos and a letter from your local law enforcement office that you are a law abiding citizen with no criminal record. This letter also must include the make, model and serial number of the rifle you are bringing to the hunt. You must be absolutely certain that this information is correct.
You need to send an original birth certificate. If you do not have one, you can obtain one from the state office where you reside. This will be returned to you upon checking your trophy at the Mexico Fish & Game. There will be a $10 fee for packing & dipping of your trophy.
You also need to send a copy of your driver's license and/or a copy of your U.S. Passport. You don't need to send the passport, only a copy. There will be an approximate cost of $400 for license and gun permits.
You will be escorted by the Mexican landowner across the border. He helps to take care of problems if they arise.
Laredo, TX has an international airport, but only commuter planes fly into it. It might be wise to fly into San Antonio, TX and rent a car and drive to Laredo. We recommend staying at La Posada Hotel/Suites. Telephone: 956-722-1701 or Fax: 956-722-4758 E-mail: nmreyna@icsi.net.
It is advised that you are in Laredo by 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. the day before your hunt commences. It can take 1-2 hours to get across the border.
Hunt Price: $4,000 and up! Licenses not included: $400
