Hunting season
From august 10 to October 3.
Duration
of the trip
Height (8) days in total, that is six (6) nights at camp and one (1)

Why
is there such a difference in prices from one outfitters to another ?
Quite simply, it is the quantity, quality and trustworthiness of the
services which makes the difference.
These differences are often difficult to compare given the number of
outfitters who offer a variety of caribou hunting packages and witch
differ from one to the other.
How
is the hunter supposed to make the proper choice ?
The questions you must ask yourself are the following: Which outfitter
provide the best quality of hunt and service by comparison of the price
asked for ?
The air transportation included from where ?
(
Montreal
, Schefferville, Wabush, Fort-Chimo)
Are all taxes included in the price ?
(Airport - GST - PST)
Are the guides and personnel competent, experienced and talk english ?
Are
the transfer to a more productive hunting area included, when no caribou
at your camp ?
Are the service going to be as they were explained to you by the
salesman or in the outfitters brochures ?
The equipment witch is provided as well as the lodging , are they
acceptable for this type of operation ?
Over and above the cost of the hunting trip, will there be additional
costs such as the hunting, cost for second animal and it's
transportation, cost for hotel room between two flights, hunting permit,
boxes for game transportation ?
Is there an outfitter representative to assist us at
Montreal
?
If you are going to under a drop camp (European Plan), will there be
running water in camp ?
Are the toilets with running water or dry toilet ?
How many hunter per each boat ?
Is there a gas limitation for outboard motor ?
For package with guides, how many hunter per guide ?
Of course, many dozens of additional questions can also be added, and
each of these deserves an answer!
It is very important to ask for a reference list of hunters for past 3
years, for a minimum of 50 hunters per year.
In order to make the proper choice, based on your individual budget and
your expectations, it is important to, first of all, understand what is
included in the price of the hunting package witch you are considering
purchasing.
Should you have any question witch still remain unanswered, after
reading this brochure, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

A
FEW COMMENTS
ABOUT THE
TROPHIES TAKEN |
The Quebec caribou
An examination at the principal trophy keeping books,
the " BOONE & CROCKETT (1993), POPE & YOUNG
(1993) and "SAFARI CLUB International (1994)"
indicates that 60% of all the records which have been
registered for the Quebec caribou, have come out of the
Schefferville region.
It is easy to understand that any hunter who has
aspirations of collecting a record animal, along with
the opportunity of listing their name in an official
record book, will have a 20% better chance to succeed,
by choosing Club Chambeaux for their next hunting
expedition, who operates primarily in the Schefferville
area... |
New caribou census 2001
Recently, following the request of Northern Quebec Outfitters,
the Fish and Games biologist of Quebec made a major photographic
census of the two main herds, the George River herd and the Leaf
River herd in July 2001.
The biologists responsible for the study gave some information
on the numbers of the census of the herds at the annual Northern
Quebec outfitters meeting, held on November 29, 2001.
The preliminary result of the 2001 census shows that the two
major herds are totalizing approximately 1,000,000 head, and the
count is not quite finished yet. In numbers, the two herds
combined would be about the same number as the 1993 census.
Health condition of the caribou herds
According to the physical analysis of the newborns of the George
River herd, the count is 45 fawns by 100 females caribou, and
the count for the Leaf River herd is 43 fawns per 100 females,
With this high rate of reproduction, Northern Quebec will remain
the best place to hunt caribou for many decades.
On the other hand, it was also mentioned that the average weight
of the George River herd's fawns was about 64 lbs., and that
those of the Leaf River herd was about 48 lbs.
According to the biologists, the weight of the fawns at birth
indicates the health level of herd. By comparing the result of
the 2002 census with the 1993 census, the biologists are
predicting that the George River herd will increase its
population, and that the Leaf River herd would probably be at
its peak.
They are expecting, for leaf River herd, a decrease in the next
few years.
The number of animals harvested annually by sportsmen represents
approximately 2% of the total population. These numbers
represent a negligible affect on the largest population of
caribou on this planet.
To the contrary, the autumn hunt is a good tool to regulate the
caribou population. We can therefore safely predict exceptional
hunting seasons for many years to come.
Good
News for Club Chambeaux’s hunters
All those results won't affect the hunting success provided by
Club Chambeaux since 1984. The reasons that allowed Club
Chambeaux to achieve such a high success rate are simple to
explain.
Club Chambeaux hunts both caribou herds, the George River and
the Leaf River. The caribou herds have no boundaries, and are
capable of traveling over 35 miles a day.
This is why Club Chambeaux operates more than 40 different
hunting sites strategically located and spread over the 50,000
square mile area used by the caribou migratory herds of the
Georges River and Leaf River for centuries.
This is why Club Chambeaux is able to adjust to any situation
and to any change in the migration route.
WHICH HUNTING TERRITORY OFFERS THE
GREATEST CHANCE FOR SUCCESS WHEN HUNTING CARIBOU?
Schefferville?
Fort Chimo? Alaska? or Northwest Territories?
Based on the comments which we have gathered from our clients
who have previously taken hunting trips in Alaska and the
Northwest Territories, the quality of services provided and the
level of success obtained with the Club Chambeaux, which
operates in the Schefferville area of Quebec province, is by far
superior, both from the point of view of quality and price, to
any experience which they have seen in the Western regions.

REFERENCE LIST
WHAT A FEELING
Ask to our hunters
Every year, many of our hunters allow us to publish their names and phone number as a reference.
The best way to know more about the kind of quality and service provided by an outfitter
is to check numerous references.
SEASON 2002
AND 2003 REPORT
The
2002 and 2003 season, plenty of big bulls
We experienced another highly successful season in the far North. The
caribou were present in numbers during the bulk of the season. Numerous
trophy bulls were taken and scored over the minimum for the Records
Books. 100% of our hunters back home with caribou for an average of 1.98
caribou per hunter.
We were fortunate to be able to offer everyone a reasonable opportunity
for success. When the caribou did not cooperate, Club Chambeaux, as
promised, did help the luck by moving hunters (free of charge) to a more
productive location.
The ptarmigan were present this year in large numbers. We noticed that
the bear population is on a steady increase. This past season our
hunters saw more black bear than usual. Many hunters who ends their hunt
early and spent time fishing have greatly appreciate the variety and
size of the fish caught.
Year after years the number of father and son (son from 12 to 45 years
hold) and woman hunters increased and they’ve been raking some
exceptional trophy bulls.
We welcome and encourage this change since we feel that a trip to the
Northern Quebec is more than just another hunt, its an experience and an
adventure in another land that should be shared among couples and family
groups.
Whatever your caribou hunting plan for next season, we are strongly
recommend that you make your booking early to assure you availability.
Hundreds of thousands of migratory caribou are roaming Northern-Quebec.
The results of research has demonstrated that Quebec caribou,
particularly the female of the George River herd, can cover up to 6,000
kilometers in their search for food, or to escape predators like wolves
or insects. No other animal roaming the surface of the earth can surpass
this incredible migration. The Northern Quebec caribou is a natural end
spectacular phenomenon, and whoever is touched by natural wonder, should
at least see it once in his/her lifetime.

to
say about our hunts!!
October 6, 2002
Bill;
Our Caribou hunt this September with Club Chambeaux was great. The
diversity of the hunt based on each hunters interest, preferred style of
hunting, and/or physical limitation in our group was super. Those of us
that wanted to stalk and travel a foot enjoyed not only lots of country,
but the thrill of close shooting and participating in the packing and
transporting of our harvest back to camp. Those that preferred the
security, support and ease of staying close to the boat and open water
enjoyed frequent Caribou sightings often at reasonable shooting
distance. We all tagged out even with one less day of hunting, which was
a result of bad weather at the start of the hunt. However, I must say
that we only tagged out because of Chambeaux attention to details and
there self-directed decision to move us two times enabling our hunt with
more and more Caribou sightings after each move.
My special take away with the trip is that my Dad, my brother, my two
sons and myself (3 generations) all got to share in an experience that
was nothing less than unforgettable. The picture above is with the five
of us, and our harvest for the week. I am happy to say that my oldest
son got the biggest bull in camp, my youngest son got the oldest bull,
and my Dad had the longest kill shot in camp on his bull at 525 yards,
and my brother was just plain thrilled.
Great hunt, great outfitter and great memories!!!
Sincerely,
Tim
