Conservation Achievement. Few hunters have heard of this animal before it was exhibited at a recent SCI Convention in Reno, Nevada. Less than a dozen specimens can be seen in museums or zoos outside of China. Takin are listed as Class 1, "endangered species, for protection in China" (Appendix !! Of CITIES). Due to achieving consistent success in conservation, the number has grown quickly in recent years. Takin has been known to frequently attack and injure local villagers. Accordingly, the government has issued some game permits. The location of hunting depends upon where the government permit is issued.
